Pick any passage of 500 words or less from any fanfic I’ve written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you the equivalent of a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what’s going on in the character’s heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you’d expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

I have an Addy.

We were trying to figure out how to storm the Music Inspiration Challenge at leverageland and turn Team Grifter's fortunes around. I'd been doing a tutorial on how to write to an audience, and I mentioned that the prompts we'd been given really didn't lend themselves to humor.

mizzy2k disagreed.

I don't remember exactly how we got from there to James Sterling, Interpol being some kind of demented sparkly stalker in love with Nate...unless the unpublished wall-sex fic happened around this time? That might 'splain it.

What I do remember is thinking that the only way this was going to work was if I just did the literary equivalent of leaping off a cliff. Every single crazed bit of weirdness that followed came from that. It also should be no surprise that this bit is written entirely stream of consciousness, and yes I know that says horrible things about my brain.

Oh - other points of interest - Day 63 takes place during The Studio Job, Sterling was suffering from food poisoning on Day 94...

...and Nate and Sophie *weren't* praying on Day 98. *g*

(Finally, in my head I always hear James Sterling, Interpol in James Bond's voice...even with the sparkles.)

I remember I was sad I'd already submitted, because I totally could have done a "The Very Secret Diaries" fic.
