There were so many levels at work here when I wrote this. The elegant clothes and the genteel setting are a perfect parallel to Faith and Damon trying to be mature and responsible about their situation. They desperately don't want to kill each other, but they will if it proves to be the right course of action.

I think Faith is reacting to those bits of her younger self that she sees in Damon. Now that she knows vampires can live successfully as a part of normal society, she really wants him to take that path - almost like paying forward her own redemption.

For his part, Faith is like nobody Damon has ever known, and I think this is the moment where he realizes that he could happily spend decades trying to figure her out. The fact that it's also the first time he completely believes her when she says she'll kill him says a lot about where their relationship is going. She's the rush of Katherine without the mind games.

And as to what happened? I'm pretty sure they didn't have sex on this trip, although they got close and certainly not for want of Damon trying. I'd say he probably tried to show her the best time he possibly could around town, and they probably had a hell of a lot of fun.

I'm envisioning a dinner with Stefan and Katherine at the Salvatore home where much hilarity ensues. In the end, Faith would let him live with the promise that she would check up on him often.

I need to get back and write more with this pairing.
