11/4/04 18:27Now that's the way to kill some tension dead.
The day started off looking like it was going to be ugly. Dad's bloodsugar too high, Mom and Dad sniping at each other -- lots of leftover tension from Amy & co. being around.
So, in what turned out to be an inspired move, I suggested to Robin that we plan on commandeering the DVD player after lunch to finally sit down and watch the extended version of "LotR: Fellowship" -- which neither of us had gotten a chance to see yet. Mom was up for this, as ever since RotK won Best Picture, she's been eager to see "what the fuss is about". Dad, as per usual, was into anything that didn't leave him alone watching Fox News.
Four hours later... :)
Mom enjoyed it -- hell, *I* enjoyed it. Now the movie makes a whole bunch more sense and doesn't feel like great whopping holes were chopped out of it.
Dad didn't get it, but Goddess love him he tried. *g*
And now everyone is more mellow and seems to be willing to get back on civil footing with each other. Unfortunately for me, the weather outside is *exactly* the kind of weather I hate when I'm this hormonal, but I shall perservere. *g*
Ahead lies the challenge of booting up Robin's computer so she can finish her two reports that are due on Wednesday. I have a deep fear that all the rebooting we've had to do in the past couple of weeks may have killed the power supply. Life is so going to suck if that's the case.
