Author's Note: Written for angst_bingo, for the prompt "Using Others or Being Used". Now that this is finished I have to admit that I'm not at all sure who was using whom in this scenario. Maybe each of them is using the other for their own selfish ends - all I know for sure is that if I don't get the length of these stories down, I'm never going to get that blackout I'm stalking!

Things were deteriorating – there was no doubt about it. If the reports were to be believed, and Alanna still counted that as a very large “if”, the United States was facing a pandemic of Biblical proportions.
